baseLINE Helps Identify Asset Shrinkage and OH&S Risks
September 2010
3M has implemented Relegen’s baseLINE asset management software system at one of Australia’s largest mining sites. The implementation simplifies compliance, minimises asset shrinkage, and helps to identify OH&S risks.
baseLINE enables the mining site to identify assets uniquely, associate employees and sub-contractors directly to individual assets, and pull information from other company databases to get a complete asset picture. Whether this is calibration, certification, physical location, usage history, cost, inventory levels or maintenance details, every asset can now be managed with relevant and accurate information.
OH&S compliance is supported in a number of ways: each user is fit-tested prior to initial use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and this information is recorded in baseLINE against the user’s unique ID to ensure that they are always issued appropriately fitted PPE; there are also automated maintenance scheduling and alerts recorded against an asset to ensure the highest levels of safety and compliance.
Some of the financial benefits include the ability to track the entire lifecycle of an asset to support planning of PPE requirements for intensive usage periods (e.g. shutdowns) and budget forecasting.
baseLINE is an integral part of Relegen’s end-to-end Enterprise Asset Management solution, which includes its unique tagging system assetDNA, consulting and managed services.
